“The art of living well and the art of dying well are one. ” Epicurus
I am Nandi Szabo, M.A., ADTR, an Expressive Arts Therapist, educator, wellness practitioner, artist, drummer, dancer, writer, yogini, music collector and someone who practices the creative art of living.
It is with great enthusiasm I share information and services regarding Expressive Arts Therapy, which is also referred to as Creative Art Therapies, CAT, This includes dance movement, art, music, poetry, writing, photography and psychodrama therapy.
Having earned my masters level training in Expressive Arts Therapy graduate program at Lesley College in Cambridge Massachusetts, I combine my clinical training in psychology with my firsthand knowledge of the arts and their potential for holistic healing of the mind body and spirit. My work with cancer patients at Sutter Hospital in Sacramento CA for the last 18 years has directed me to take Expressive Arts Therapy into palliative and hospice care.
I am particularly interested in relationship between other healing arts such as yoga, meditation, spirituality and Arts in Healthcare.
I introduce the important role creativity plays in living a meaningful life as well moving consciously into the end of life transition.
I teach “The Psychology of Death and Dying”, “ The Psychology of Creativity”, “Therapeutic Use of the Arts” and “The Hero’s Journey” at Sacramento City College since 1997. I have been providing Expressive Arts Therapy Groups for those on a healing journey with cancer at the Sutter Cancer Center since 1998.
